Range Rules
GUN HANDLING RULES
- Always keep the gun pointed down range in a safe direction.
- Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
- Always keep the action open and the firearm unloaded until ready to use.
- Be sure the gun is safe to operate.
- Know how to use the gun safely.
- Use only the correct ammunition for your gun.
- Wear ear and eye protection in the range.
- Never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting.
- Store guns so they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.
INDOOR RANGE RULES and REGULATIONS
- No tracers, armor-piecing, or incinerator bullets (Use, if there is a resulting fire, may cause the police to file charges against you).
- No black powder firing of any kind.
- Only rimfire ammo used in rifles; no centerfire cartridges.
- All pistols must be cased unless on the firing line and ready to load pistol.
- Smallbore rifles must be cased in the ready room and when out of the case, they must be flagged and have empty chamber indicators until on the firing line.
Indoor Range Procedures
Range officer must be obeyed in regard to procedure and safety rules. The range officer has the authority to tell anyone who has committed a safety violation by deviating from these procedures and/or safety rules to leave immediately.
Shooter authorized to use the range must observe the posted safety rules and procedures.
Use of the range is limited to full members, limited lifetime members, candidate members, indoor range members, collegiate members, guests and children with an adult family club member.
Firing is allowed on paper targets such as slow and fast speed firing bullseye and must be attached to the target carrier in your lane only.
Pistol
1. The only pistol position allowed is with the arm or arms fully extended, either in a one hand or two hands held stance.
2. Upon the “Cease Fire” command, shooters must immediately open, unload, and bench all firearms, then step back from the firing line to indicate compliance to the range officer.
3. No holsters are allowed without approval from the board.
Rifle
All rifles being used will be restricted to firearms using rimfire ammunition as .17 caliber and .22 caliber short, long, and long rifle. Black powder may not be used.
General Indoor Range Rules
- Know and obey all range commands. Range officers are authorized to require anyone to leave for safety violations.
- Appropriate eye and ear protection is required for everyone shooting, observing, or monitoring within the indoor range itself.
- Shoot only at approved paper targets, such as bullseye, from authorized positions, within the shooting booth, behind the shelf. The shooting method shall consist of fully extended are or arms. If two-armed, the method should be in a triangular, arms fully extended position.
- Designate a range officer when none is present or assigned.
- Unload, open the action, remove the magazine, bench all firearms, and step back from the line during a cease fire.
- Always keep the muzzle pointed directly downrange at the backstop or bullet trap.
- No full automatics, black powder, or center fire rifles are allowed.
- No drinking of alcohol or illegal drug use is allowed just before or during range use.
